Funding WEWD

Donations of any amount are welcome to help us make next year an even bigger success!

A Call to Action

In order to make this year’s celebration possible, everyone involved has either donated their time or drastically reduced their usual fee. We’ve achieved it on something less like a shoestring budget and more like a hanging-by-a-thread budget.

Next year, we want to do more, do better, and treat our experts and participants better. To do that, we have to start raising funding now.

Giving Tiers

$25 - $1,000 helps us to cover the costs of recording the presentations, editing them and uploading them to YouTube.

$1,000 enables us to offer funding to a community group to make a short teaching video for their script, which we can then showcase at WEWD.

$5,000 enables us to offer funding to five community groups to make short teaching videos for their script, which we can then showcase at WEWD.

$10,000 lets us make actual financial awards to individuals or organizations working to grow or revive their community scripts.

$25,000 lets us make actual financial awards to individuals or organizations working to grow or revive their community scripts and allows us to pay our tech support team at their usual professional rates.

$50,000 lets us make actual financial awards to individuals or organizations working to grow or revive their community scripts and allows us to pay our tech support team at their usual professional rates and enables us to pay solid stipends to community members and scholars for giving their time to World Endangered Writing Day.

$100,000 covers the entire cost of a virtual WEWD event.

$250,000 enables us to set up a core real-life event as part of WEWD in which select scholars, technical advisors and community members can meet face to face at a physical location to work on revival strategies. Some of these discussions can be part of the livestream so those unable to attend can learn from the core meetings and offer their own perspectives. Gatherings of this kind are notoriously expensive, but the value of in-person, face-to-face meeting and collaboration is priceless.
